Privacy Policy

What personal information we collect through this website, why, how long we keep it, and your rights.

Who we are

This website, theseogenius.com.ng, is run by THE SEO GENIUS LTD, 287 Ebis Mechanic Road, Amarata, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. We decide how the personal information collected here is used, so we are responsible for it under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

For anything about your information, email [email protected] or message us on WhatsApp (+234 707 419 4756).

What we collect and why

When you send a project enquiry

On the Start a project form we ask where your business is, what you need, your budget range, a short description, and your name, email address and (if you choose) phone number, business name and website.

We use this to reply to you and prepare for our first conversation. The form is emailed to our team inbox, and a backup copy is kept in our website’s dashboard so nothing is lost if an email goes astray. The backup copy is deleted automatically after 90 days.

When you buy from us

When you buy a guide or book a Clarity Session, we collect your name, email address and WhatsApp number, what you bought, the price, any discount, how you paid and the payment reference.

We use this to confirm your payment, deliver your guide or arrange your session, help you if something goes wrong, and keep the business records the law requires.

  • Paying online: your payment is processed by Paystack, which collects your card or bank details directly. Paystack’s own privacy policy applies to that information. We only receive confirmation that you paid and a reference.
  • Paying by bank transfer: we check our bank account for your payment. If you message us on WhatsApp to confirm it, we also see your WhatsApp name and number and the message you send.
  • Guides are emailed to you, with a personal download link that stops working after 7 days.

When you join our newsletter

Our newsletter is optional. If you tick the box to join (for example, at checkout), we keep your name, email address, WhatsApp number and the date you joined, and send you emails with practical ideas for growing your business.

You can unsubscribe at any time by using the link in our emails or by emailing [email protected]. Any discount you received for joining stays yours.

When you contact us

If you email, call or message us on WhatsApp, we keep the conversation so we can help you and refer back to it later.

Technical information

Like every website, our server records basic technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. Our hosting provider uses these logs to keep the website secure and running, and they are deleted after a short period.

To stop spam, our forms check how quickly they were filled in and limit how many can be sent from one connection per hour. Form submissions may also be checked by Akismet, a spam-filtering service run by Automattic, which receives the submission and your IP address for that purpose.

Cookies and analytics

Our website doesn’t need cookies to work for visitors. The only cookies it sets itself are for our own staff when they log in to manage the site.

To understand how people use the website and measure our advertising, we use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (connected through Google’s Site Kit plugin) and the Meta Pixel. These set cookies, or similar technologies, that record things like which pages you visit, how you arrived and what device you use. Google and Meta process this information under their own privacy policies.

When you first visit, a cookie banner run by CookieYes asks whether you accept these cookies. CookieYes stores your choice in a cookie of its own, so it doesn’t ask again on every page. You can change your choice through the banner’s settings, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser at any time.

The legal basis for using your information

  • To deliver what you asked for: replying to your enquiry, and delivering what you bought (a contract between us).
  • Because the law requires it: keeping records of payments for accounting and tax.
  • Because you agreed: sending our newsletter. You can withdraw your agreement at any time.
  • Our legitimate interests: keeping the website secure and free of spam, and keeping a record of our conversations with you.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information or let others use it for their own marketing. We only share it with the services we use to run our business, and only as much as they need:

  • our website and email hosting provider, which stores the website, the backup copies and our mailbox
  • Paystack, for online payments
  • WhatsApp (Meta), when you choose to message us there
  • Akismet (Automattic), for spam checks on forms
  • Google and Meta, through the analytics and advertising tools described above, if you accept their cookies
  • professional advisers such as accountants, and government authorities when the law requires it

Some of these services store information outside Nigeria. We only use established providers that protect personal information to a standard the Nigeria Data Protection Act accepts.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy
  • correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete
  • delete your information, unless the law requires us to keep it
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to a particular use
  • give you your information in a format you can take elsewhere
  • stop sending you our newsletter (withdrawing your consent)

To do any of these, email [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm who you are first. We’ll reply as soon as we can, and within 30 days.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).

Keeping it safe

The website uses an encrypted connection (https). Only our team can see enquiries and orders, behind a password-protected dashboard. Guides are delivered through personal links, never a public address.

Children

Our website and services are for business owners and are not intended for anyone under 18. We don’t knowingly collect information about children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal information, we’ll update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
